Gabriel Braga is a Brazilian entrepreneur, founder of the real estate startup Quinto Andar. Braga first trained as an industrial engineer at the University of Minas Gerais, and then studied an MBA at the Standford business school.
Braga started as an entrepreneur with Semeia Brasil, a Brazilian software company where he learned about how to manage technology projects. Subsequently, he worked briefly on the international expansion of Airbnb, which would give him an overview of the real estate market in Brazil and how it could be improved through technology.
n 2012, Gabriel Braga and André Penha founded Quinto Andar, a real estate company that connects landlords to potential tenants. Quinto Andar simplifies the rental process for landlords. The company claims that it reduces the rental time of a space from one month to three days. Quinto Andar simplifies many parts of the process by signing digital contracts and changing the forms of guarantees for lessors, such as using the client’s good credit history.
In November 2018, Quinto Andar received an investment of $ 250 million from the American General Atlantic fund.
Among the challenges that Gabriel Braga proposes for Quinto Andar is to bring the multi-family income model that exists in the United States to Brazil but is not in Brazil. The company hopes to contribute to overcoming the challenges that this new sector would have, such as finding the best location for these buildings.
Quinto Andar has provoked the interest of international investors such as Kaszek Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, QED, Ruane, Cunniff, and Goldfarb. This attention has been achieved as the company’s model has become more evident for the international community.
Gabriel Braga points out that Brazilians understand quite well the inconvenience that renting a property can cause, something that American investors may not understand.
The company is focused on an expansion in the local market, but Braga also aims to jump into the international community to boost it. In September 2019, the company founded by Braga became a Brazilian unicorn.
