In a press release, the Microsoft Vicepresident of Microsoft Device Pete Kyriacou announced the Surface Laptop 4, a computer designed for a home office future.
Hardware is not the first thing that pops your mind when people think about Microsoft. However, Kyriacou assured that “Microsoft’s hardware legacy stretches back more than four decades to the early days of personal computing”. But Surface products have been available since ten years ago, despite they’re not widely commented, or sold.
Features of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop
Microsoft’s executive affirmed that “Surface Laptop has stood apart from the crowd with craftsmanship unlike any other.” However, the hardware line holds one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings in its class, according to an Online survey of laptop users age 18-64 in China and the US conducted by Ipso.
Microsoft offers consumers a wide range of fine finishes. They can choose between Alcantara or metal, and a variety of colors. This year, the company introduced an Ice Blue finish.
The computer’s built-in camera records with HD quality and includes a high-contrast touchscreen display of 201 PPI. Omnisonic speakers are designed to lead a cinematic experience. Customers can choose between a Gen Intel Core processor or an AMD Ryzen Mobile Processors with Radeon. Kyriacou ensured that the company boost performance of the computer meanwhile improved the battery life.
Accessories for virtual meetings
The accessories for the Surface Laptop 4 have been designed this year to improve the experience for virtual meetings. Microsoft’s executive pointed out that the company responded to the spectrum of unique work environments with audio and video accessories certified for Microsoft Teams and other conferencing apps.
For example, Surfaced Headphones +2 have been adapted to create a more robust meeting experience with on-ear Teams controls and improved remote calling.
Tight market for Surface Laptop 4
However, all these features will be only available for people from the US, Canada, and Japan, where the Surface Laptop 4 will be commercialized. According to the company, additional markets will be available in the coming weeks.
