Richard White discovered the importance of hard work when he worked washing dishes when he was 12 years old. He started to be interested in refrigerating engineering after accompanying his dad in his job as a Refrigeration engineer. He liked engineering because it was something where he can use his hands and his mind, so he followed a career into that. However, he got interested in music later, and he opened a store for repairing musical instruments. He repaired instrument for bands as AC-DC and The Angels.
White jokes that he is an economic refugee from the music industry. In the 1990s, he worked for logistic companies and he could identify some challenges and opportunities in the industry, such as customs clearance and border compliance.
Richard White was the founder and managing director of Real Tech Systems Integration (provider of computer consulting and systems integrations services) and founder and CEO of Clear Group (distributor of computer-related equipment).
He started to build a solution that he describes as ”everything in one box”, a single solution that works in the main countries for trading. In 1994, he founded the software company WiseTech Global to help logistics companies manage goods and information across supply chains.
Now WiseTech Global is an innovative global developer of cloud-based software. Richard retains a 53% stake and is the company’s chief executive. In 2016, WiseTeche went public. Since then, the company shares have soared more than five-fold, due to strong growth in revenue and acquisitions worldwide.
In 2019, the company took advantage of logistic providers moving away from legacy IT systems.
